In another example of its expanding ebook outreach to libraries, Simon & Schuster announced that it will donate a free electronic copy of Academy Award–winning producer Brian Grazer’s new book, A Curious Mind: The Secret to a Bigger Life, to school and public libraries for every grazerebook or hardcover book sold at retail, up to 5,000 copies. The book, coauthored by three-time Loeb Award–winning journalist Charles Fishman, chronicles the “curiosity conversations” that Grazer (Splash, A Beautiful Mind) has conducted for decades with accomplished individuals from Barack Obama to Jonas Salk to Amy Tan. LJ describes the book as “a very interesting blend of behind-the-scenes Hollywood machinations and business and personal self-help,…ideal for libraries”...

The promotion was launched April 8, the day after the book’s publication, and continues through National Library Week (April 12–18). Interested librarians may sign up through Overdrive, which is facilitating the promotion, and as part of the deal could also receive one of ten autographed copies of the print version. Simon & Schuster intends to make multiple ebook copies available to participating libraries if fewer than 5,000 libraries register, but as of April 10, Vice President Associate Publisher Richard Rhorer says that the chances of getting that number of registrants are already looking good.  more
