With a history stretching back over 125 years, the Chuo University Library boasts a total collection of approximately 2.1 million volumes. Information on the entire collection is stored on a database, and can be searched in a matter of seconds from terminals connected to the Library’s system Chuo Online Information System (CHOIS).
The University of Tokyo Library System is composed of the General Library, the Komaba Library, the Kashiwa Library, and 32 libraries attached to departments or related research institutions. Despite the distances separating the three main campuses of Hongo, Komaba and Kashiwa, and several other off-campus facilities, the libraries of the University of Tokyo provide a large variety of services within a single, integrated system.
In spring 2007, the university library was renovated and an atrium lobby added. It has 3 floors with about 65,000 books and about 100 computer terminals which enable students to access further information.
The University of Tsukuba Library is dedicated to be the core of academic information through cooperation with the local community, research laboratories and educational organizations in Japan and overseas. The Libray consists of the Central Library and four specialized libraries (Art and Physical Education Library, Medical Library, Library on Library and Information Science, and Otsuka Library).
The core of a Media Center is its library service. Keio University has six campuses each one of them holding its own Media Center branch to support research, education or medical practice. In addition to the five Media Centers, we also manage Yamanaka Resource Center in Yamanashi Prefecture as a research archive, and Hakuraku Satellite Library in Yokohama City.
